Wheelock Academy Historic Site preserves the grounds and surviving buildings of a Choctaw boarding school that operated from 1832 to 1955, and it is recognized as both a National Historic Landmark and a site on the National Register of Historic Places. Set near Millerton in McCurtain County, it includes an on-site museum and is known for interpreting the school’s history and the Choctaw Nation’s long commitment to education.
