Winding Stair Campground
About Winding Stair Campground
Winding Stair Campground sits on top of Winding Stair Mountain along the Talimena Scenic Drive (Oklahoma Highway 1), about two miles west of US-259. It has 23 campsites with paved spurs, tent pads, grills, fire rings and vault toilets. There is no water or electricity. Sites are first come, first served. The 2026 fee is $8 a night for a single site and $14 for a double, paid at the kiosk or with the Recreation.gov app.
Emerald Vista overlook is next to the campground. The Ouachita National Recreation Trail passes by, and a backpacker camp with five tent pads sits about 300 feet west and is open all year.
