Heavener Runestone Park
About Heavener Runestone Park
Heavener Runestone Park is a 55-acre park built around the Heavener Runestone, a large sandstone slab carved with eight markings. The park has about two miles of hiking trails, a scenic overlook and camping. There is also an amphitheater, a community building and space for gatherings. The park is run by Friends of Heavener Runestone, a local nonprofit, and it is the home of a yearly Viking festival called Folkvangr Weekend, with a market.
The park is on Runestone Road in Heavener, Oklahoma. Call (918) 653-2241 or visit runestonepark.com for upcoming events and visiting details. It is a good stop for history fans, hikers, families with kids, and anyone curious about the stone and the stories around it. The trails and overlook also make it a nice place for a quiet walk or a picnic.
