🖌️ Art classes
Art classes at the Museum of the Red River
The Museum of the Red River in Idabel holds art classes taught by visiting artists, for different ages and skill levels. Recent classes included beginner oil pastels and beaded earrings. Classes have a fee and you sign up ahead by phone.
Admission to the museum itself is always free, so you can look at the art and the dinosaur before or after class. Idabel is about 40 minutes south of Hochatown.
Some of the museum's classes are taught by Elements Art Center, an art studio in Durant that runs paint nights and family art days. Durant is a long drive, so it works best on the way in or out.
The Museum of the Red River is Idabel’s cultural anchor, a museum devoted to art and archaeology from around the world and home to Oklahoma’s state dinosaur, Acrocanthosaurus atokensis.
