For New Year's Eve in Hochatown, most people go to a live music party, have a late dinner out, or stay in at the cabin with a hot tub and fire pit. Last year, the big party was the NYE Super Slam at Hochatown Saloon on December 31, 2025. Southeast Remedy played, the show started at 10 PM, there was a $3,000 balloon drop at midnight, and the party went until 2 AM.
New Year's Eve 2026 is a Thursday. Most places haven't posted their 2026 plans yet. Check back, we add them as they're announced, and this year's events show up right below from our events calendar.
Two things to plan before you go out: a ride home, and fireworks. Uber is hard to find here at midnight, so book a local car service ahead. Fireworks are not allowed in Beavers Bend State Park, and they are off everywhere in the county during a burn ban.

New Year's Eve party at Hochatown Saloon
Hochatown Saloon, 28 Old Hochatown Road, is the area's biggest live music stage. Last year it held the NYE Super Slam on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Doors opened at 8:30 PM, Southeast Remedy started at 10 PM, and a $3,000 balloon drop with prizes and cash came down at midnight. The party ran until 2 AM. General admission tickets got you in but didn't hold a seat or table.
The 2026 New Year's Eve show isn't posted yet. The Saloon sells show tickets online through its website. Call (580) 494-3300 to ask about this year's show, tickets and age limits.

Choctaw Landing
Choctaw Landing in Hochatown has a casino, a hotel, restaurants and several bars, and it books live music on its Cypress Lawn and in the casino. That makes it an easy one-stop New Year's Eve: eat, play, and if you get a room, skip the drive home.
Choctaw Landing hasn't posted New Year's Eve 2026 plans yet. Its events page lists shows about a month ahead, so check closer to December or call (580) 494-2237.

With kids, the easiest night is at the cabin: an early dinner out, then games, the hot tub, and watching the ball drop on TV. Have dinner or groceries delivered if you don't want to drive (see the delivery box above).
Gutter Chaos in Hochatown has bowling, an arcade and food. Hester's Theatre of Magic runs a family magic show in a small theater. Neither has posted New Year's Eve 2026 hours or shows yet, so call before you go.

Can you shoot fireworks on New Year's Eve?
Sometimes, on private land, and only if there's no burn ban. Here's how the rules stack up:
Burn ban: when McCurtain County has a burn ban, fireworks are not allowed. Check the burn-ban banner at the top of this page. If a ban is on, a red strip there says so.
State law: Oklahoma's new fireworks law, signed May 29, 2026, lets stores sell fireworks all year and makes bottle rockets legal. It says counties can't stop fireworks on private property when there's no burn ban and no Red Flag Fire Warning. On a Red Flag day, call the local fire department before you light anything.
State park: you can't set off fireworks anywhere in Beavers Bend State Park. The campgrounds are part of the park, so that includes them.
Towns and cabins: cities can have stricter rules, so call the City of Broken Bow at (580) 584-2282 if you're in town. Many cabin rentals don't allow fireworks at all. Check your rental rules or ask your host first.

Book your ride home first
This is the most important part of the night. Uber and Lyft have very few drivers here, and at midnight on New Year's Eve you may not find one at all. Cabins are on dark, winding roads, so walking back isn't safe.
Call a local car service a few days ahead and book both rides: out, and home after midnight. Text them your cabin address, a map pin and the gate code. Or pick a sober driver before the night starts.

New Year's Day: breakfast and a first-day hike
New Year's Day 2027 is a Friday. No local restaurant has posted January 1 hours yet, and holiday hours often change, so call before you drive.
On a normal Friday, Hochatown Saloon serves breakfast from 9 AM, and Hocha-rrito's food truck sells breakfast burritos from 8 AM to noon.
Beavers Bend State Park has held a free First Day Hike on January 1, most recently in 2025. It met at the Forest Heritage Center at 11 AM for an easy one-mile walk, with hot dogs and hot chocolate at the end, and leashed dogs were welcome. A 2027 hike isn't posted yet.
