🧭 Winter guide
The short answer
Winter is the quiet season here, but most of Hochatown and Broken Bow stays open. Wineries, breweries, the distillery, Choctaw Landing casino resort and Beavers Bend State Park are all open, and the Mountain Fork River is stocked with trout all year.
What closes: float trips on the river shut down for winter (Beavers Bend River Floats opens again March 1), and some patios, rides and rentals cut their hours. Call ahead before you drive over.
February days are usually in the mid-50s with nights near freezing, so pack layers. Ice storms are rare but do happen, so check the forecast before you travel. The good news: cabins with hot tubs and fireplaces are made for this time of year.
- Open all winter: Wineries, breweries, the distillery, Choctaw Landing, Beavers Bend State Park
- Closed in winter: River float trips (back March 1)
- Shorter hours: Beavers Bend Marina (9 to 5 in winter), horse and train rides, patios
- Weather: Usually mid-50s by day, near freezing at night in February
