The Mountain Fork River makes a sharp bend through the park, with tall pines and hardwoods on the banks. Early morning is a good time, when the water is calm and there can be fog on the river.

The Cedar Bluff Nature Trail is a short loop (under a mile) with views over the river. It starts across from Dogwood Campground. For longer walks, the David Boren Hiking Trail runs through the park.

The Forest Heritage Center is a free museum in the park with big painted dioramas and wood art. TravelOK lists it as open daily 8 AM to 5 PM. It's a good stop on a rainy day too.

🌄 Lake views

Broken Bow Lake: the overlook and the water

1 place

The Corps of Engineers runs an overlook by the dam with a wide view of Broken Bow Lake and the hills around it. Go at sunrise or near sunset for softer light.

TravelOK suggests a sunrise on the lake in the fall, when the colors show up on the water. To shoot from the water, rent a boat at the marina.
